為了延伸無線電能傳輸的距離,本項目採用了諧振片的技術,將本來在100mm以下的傳輸距離, 經過數片中間諧振片延伸到1000mm 以上。 本研究項目採用了特別的優化方法, 把效率提升了四倍以上。 這技術應用在高壓電塔, 可以從輸電線透過絕緣子內藏諧振片獲取電能, 以供應電塔安裝在偏遠地方的監察儀器所用,並符合高壓絕緣的要求。

在薄膜上印刷線圈並組合成變壓器是十分吸引, 可把變壓器的厚度降到1mm以下. 配合無鐵芯設計整個變壓器並可以屈曲. 但有關設計必須精準, 既要配合高頻, 又要保持效率. 本研究項目探討合物理優化方法, 使變壓器既能適應LLC電路參數要求, 又可直接穫取實際佈線方案.

為了簡化無線電能傳輸(WPT)的諧振電路設計,一般都是採用第一諧波分析方法(FHA)。 但當占空比(duty cycle)不是50%比50%的時候, 這個簡單的方法出現明顯的誤差。 這項研究目提出了新的多諧波分析方法(MHA), 能夠準確計算出諧振點與及軟開關的領域, 並發展了有關設計軟件方便使用。

Integrated Resonant Capacitance for LLC power converter planar transformer
LLC電源變換器是常用的電路,因為效率高,在計算機電源應用尤為普遍。但是其中的變壓器需要有準確的漏感,亦要配合外置諧振電容, 一般的繞線變壓器難免一致性不高,以致電源品質參差。 本研究項目提出融合式電容概念,採用扁平變壓器, 利用印刷線路層與層之間的電容作為諧振電容。 不單可以提高變壓器參數的一致性, 亦可減免外置諧振電容, 適合薄身的數據中心計算機插板電源使用。

一般的電源都是硬方塊。如果電源可被屈曲,就可創出新的用途,例如電源可以依附在管狀物體, 或者作為穿戴式產品使用。為了達到這個目的,本研究項目利用GaN器件高頻運作把電源變壓器鐵芯替換成空氣芯,線圈印刷在薄膜上。 此外為了應付屈曲後的參數變化 , 提出了可以改變形狀的三維變壓器模型。 實驗做出的電源效果理想,可供一般USB產品 使用。

VRM 是DC/DC電源,普遍應用在需要快速瞬間負載轉變的計算機CPU負載。一般的VRM是採用數個buck 轉換器並聯在一起。 本研究項目提出一個單相VRM快速電源, 其特別之處在於輸出電感耦合到輸入電源, 在快速瞬間轉換時提供嵌位電源, 以達致快速反應的效果。
